More Flagrant Fouls on Blake

I chatted with Gary Saks at the GS game this weekend.  I suggested to him – this was after David Lee pushed Blake in the air, potentially injuring him – that the Clips tell Vinny to make some snarky Phil Jackson-like comments to the media about teams flagrantly fouling Blake when airborne, thereby potentially ending his career and that the league had to stop it.  I suggested to Saks that the Clips tell Vinny they’ll pay his fine by the league.

Saks told me he thought it was a really good idea and he agreed with me that a serious Blake injury would be devastating to the organization.  He noted that the refs were ridiculously trying to figure out if the foul on Lee was a flagrant 1 or flagrant 2.  My point was it didn’t matter – because even a flagrant 2 wasn’t a detriment to dirty coaches like Mark Jackson.  (That stupid stare to the Clippers bench was laughable.  GS deserved to get embarrassed.)  The league needs to change the punishment with regard to flagrant fouls to the point where they stop.  I mean, if they can stop flopping with a fine, surely they can stop career-threatening fouls.

I like Saks.  He seems bright and unlike Olshey, he doesn’t reek of arrogance.  And he’s ten times brighter than Roeser who last year reacted to a flagrant on Blake by saying that “Blake needs to stop complaining.”

Will Saks raise the issue when he meets with Roeser and Vinny?  I think so.

Will the Clippers raise the issue with the media?  I doubt it.

Good on you for raising the issue with him, even if they don’t follow through.

I have heard other suggestions, that instead of Griffin scowling at with his ” Blake Face” at those doing hard tech fouls, he should stand up for himself..

These voices are wanting Griffin to retaliate. :Griffin can just look at refs and bow up, and be called for a Tech. I have to admit, I wouldn’t mind seeing a 260 lb flying body slam in retaliation on some people. But that would be a huge fine and 5 -10 day suspension if not even longer.
Most all opposition players against Griffin, like David Lee and Pau Gasol, comment on how strong and physical his play is playing like a ” bully” under the basket. This style to be Powerful and bull other people, does and always has got him receiving many hard fouls in retaliation. Clippers as a physical and athletic front line is their label ..
As I have always tried to tell people about Griffin; which is how really big and huge his body is. And being strong enough to bang with any Center. Takes time to receive this truth, when watching him run and jump so fast and high. He is 260 Lb’s if he is an ounce. People just bounce off of him.

Its an easy fix, flagrant foul needs to mean the team gets to choose who shoots the 2 foul shots and they get the ball as well. Blake might stop getting flagrant fouled so much if other teams know Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, or Billups will be shooting the FT’s
